Pet Friendly Landlord Scheme - partnership with Battersea and Lewisham Council

Lewisham Council asked Lewisham Homes to work in partnership with Battersea Dogs and Cats Home. As a result, Lewisham Homes has recently signed a SLA with Battersea. As part of this agreement we are pleased to announce that Lewisham Homes has been officially designated as a pet friendly landlord by Battersea. 

We are proud to be one of the first council’s to be acknowledged as a pet friendly landlord as we have recognised the benefits that keeping pets can bring to residents, which include companionship, and boosting mental and physical health.  

The partnership will include:

- Pet focused training

- Pre-programmed estate visits

- Individual sessions with residents who are having ASB issues with their pet

- Full support package of posters and social media

Lewisham is keen to extend the scheme to all our housing providers as we seek to become a recognised pet friendly borough. To that end, I've written to all housing associations asking them to sign-up with Battersea Dogs and Cats Home.  I believe there are huge benefits for our residents and housing providers in adopting this approach as it will assist in preventing pet related complaints and nuisance, and foster enormous good will amongst housing association residents.
