I went with my husband - he is originally from Hong Kong - to show solidarity with the people of Hong Kong today. We converged on Trafalgar Square at 12:30 pm and were met by a small but organised protest of pro-Beijing students. It is incredibly confusing to see them present, as the Chinese state slaughtered their fellow country men and women in Tiananmen Square in 1989. The Young Mayor’s Election 2019 is on Wednesday 16th October. Any young person aged 13 and 17 years on Election Day, who lives, goes to school/college or works in the borough can stand to be Young Mayor. This evening I attended the resident drop in sessions at Achilles Street which is open every Wednesday in August from 2 pm to 8 pm in the community room on the ground floor of Fenton House on Achilles Street.
