I was invited to attend an awards ceremony tonight for youngsters who had achieved massively working with Youth Aid Lewisham and had the priviledge of handing out certificates to a number of the youngsters at the Salvation Army in Catford. I had not heard of Youth Aid before and below is section taken from their website describing themselves:
Youth A.I.D Lewisham was established in 1973 and provides an advice, information and development service for young people throughout the borough of Lewisham.
We are a small voluntary sector youth organisation that carries out an extensive programme of work through drop-in advice and counselling sessions for young people, group work and collaboration with a number of organisations to develop appropriate responses for young people in the fields of health education, volunteering, employment, careers advice and educational support.
