I was disappointed to learn today that Chartwells do not pay sick pay to their schools catering staff in Lewisham schools. Part of my role in UNISON is to organise workers in this sector and I am disappointed by this situation. I have spoken with Cllr Helen Klier and will campaign to end this two-tier workforce situation and demand that future contracts include sick pay from this company who incidentally made £773 million in pre-tax profits last year.
